After i took some pictures of the Ford Ecosport on Thursday I noticed the pedals didn’t come out how I liked.
I cleaned them and used a cloth to wipe them down, stupid me. I should of soaked the pedals and really got in with the brushes and wet vacuumed the dirt away. As it was, I’d simply wet them, moved the dirt about and essentially left the dirt to dry back in.
Went back with some cloths, c leaner, brush and cocktail stick.
Much better.
Then re-vacuum the loose debris.
Just bought four of these, magnetic drip catchers.
Essentially absorbent microfibre tubes with a magnetic strip inside that you attach under the wing mirrors and/or door handles when you’ve washed and dried your car, as the name suggests, the idea is they catch any loose drips to stop the drips running down the doors. Will see how they get on.

Where did you get those magnetic tube things? Everytime I wash my truck water leaks out the mirror and splatters the door.

ok now you’re just showing off that you get a manual Ecosport over there and we don’t
:p

It maybe a manual and a turbo diesel, but it's still an Ecosport (it's nice enough, but not for me).

What do you recommend to permanently restore plastics? We did the trim on the Outback a few weeks ago and it already looks drab.

I use Gtechniq C4, I get about 3 to 5 years out of an application. To get the most out of any coating, prep is important, thoroughly clean the area, panel wipe it of grease and any other residue. Apply and wipe off excess. Job done.
It looks expensive for the amount you get, but it goes a very long way.

Thanks!

No worries. Once you've done the exterior plastics (bumpers, scuttle panel, wing mirror surrounds, pillars (especially good for gloss black plastic panel pillars, as C4 adds a little scratch protection to the finish, oh and also gloss plastic interior trim like centre consoles which scuff and scratch easily).

Ive cued up a couple of videos on it to watch later. The size of the vial is concerning, but even the previews say it goes a long way.

Ye’, it comes in 15ml and 25ml.
For example, a 25ml bottle of C1 will do a whole large car.
Gtechniq themselves do some great videos.

I’ll make sure I watch them.

They aren’t long, they are precise and to the point. No waffling on about this and that, how their day went, etc...

Do you use this on the dash too?
![]() 07/20/2020 at 10:35 |
|
Only if there’s piano gloss plastic. Otherwise I use C6ab anti bacterial coating on plastics or L1ab anti bacterial coating on leather dashes.

For the dash, door cards, interior surfaces, etc...
Gtechniq C6ab , Matte dash, it’s a pl astics, vinyl, rubber, etc... adds abrasion resitance, UV protection and kills 99.9% of bacteria.
Gtechniq L1ab, Leather Guard, offers abrasion resistance, UV protection, prevents dye transfer and anti bacterial protection.
